No standard solves every site. Some suppliers publish impressive figures but provide limited long-term evidence. That weakness deserves review. A practical evaluation should compare measured wattage, peak temperature, glare, driver warranty terms, and five-year maintenance assumptions before approval.

Visit the production site when possible. Observe LED assembly, driver testing, sealing work, and warehouse conditions. A clean line is useful evidence, but it is not proof. Request samples from different production batches. Inspect the housing, cable glands, connectors, and finish under outdoor conditions. IP and IK ratings should be supported by valid test documentation, not only printed labels. Confirm material grades for aluminum, glass, and fasteners. Small substitutions can create serious maintenance problems.

Review the warranty in practical terms. It should explain coverage, response time, spare parts, and failure handling. Ask how faults are traced through serial numbers and inspection records. Check the supplier’s experience with similar road projects, including installation environments and climate exposure. Communication matters too. Delayed technical answers may signal weak engineering support. However, fluent sales communication can hide production limits. Independent inspection remains worthwhile. A lower quotation may look attractive, yet inconsistent components can increase replacement costs. Even careful evaluations have gaps, so document assumptions and test uncertain points before placing a large order.

China’s street light supply chain is concentrated in several practical manufacturing regions. Guangdong supports large-scale LED assembly, optical testing, and export packaging, especially around Zhongshan, Shenzhen, and Foshan. Grand View Research valued the global outdoor lighting market at approximately USD 15.8 billion in 2023. Its forecast also indicates continued growth through 2030. However, export value alone does not prove technical reliability. In supplier audits, I have seen attractive samples fail during thermal testing. That risk deserves attention.
